The van has space for 5 passengers, all with seat belts. Being Japanese it is naturally very high spec – front and rear aircon, power steering, power folding mirrors, stereo, electric windows, electric blinds all round, front and rear curtains. It is in great condition both inside and out – the conversion was only done in Feb 2007. It drives really well and is totally rust free. It has been well serviced and had the cambelt changed in Feb 2007. All servicing documentation is available as are all the receipts for any work done.
The van can sleep 4 adults – 2 ‘downstairs’ on the folding seats and 2 ‘upstairs’ in the electric pop-up roof. The roof space has its own lighting and skylight with sliding blind. Last year we had a mattress custom made to fit the roof.
The conversion included a leisure battery with full leisure circuit, split-charge relay, 240v hook-up, extra interior downlighting, 240v sockets, 12v socket, SMEV sink with electric tap and water pump, SMEV double burner cooker, central removable table and a compressor fridge with integrated freezer unit. The conversion cost 3.5 K new and was only done in Feb last year so is in immaculate condition. Included are the freshwater and wastewater tanks, water pump and electric hook-up lead.
Also included is a much sought after Khyam Motordome awning. This pop-up awning is erected in about a minute and attaches to the side of the van forming a watertight seal. It more than doubles your living space and allows you to ‘drive-off’, leaving the awning free-standing on site!
Mazda Bongos really are great vehicles and are becoming more and more sought after and have a cult following! We have used ours as a day to day vehicle as well as using it for several great holidays as well as numerous day trips. It really is a reluctant sale – we are moving onto a caravan (the missus wants a shower!)
